“Jane Eyre” – One of my favourite novels of all time. I can read this novel over and over without tiring and getting bored even a small bit. Jane Eyre is the protagonist of this novel. Jane talks about her inconsequential unassuming life in a very simple but dignified manner. When you read you can relate to her somehow somewhere. She is an insignificant girl from a small place, with her common tale of woe and all her simplicity. How did she behold the world around her with eyes full of possibilities and dreams? Jane Eyre, a plain governess with a heart of an acquitted child, always looking for the unfamiliar world beyond the horizon, ready to soar high in open boundless sky with full imagination. How a young unsoiled girl, a spirited governess gradually but beautifully feels love, passion, contentment with her employer apparently egotistical and menacing Mr Fairfax Rochester! We get to see a new kind of heroine, one whose honorable upright integrity, profound intellect and tireless perseverance broke through class barriers to win equal stature with the man she loved.
Deep down somewhere in my heart, I can see my own self, in Jane Eyre. Honestly, if I was given a choice to save only five novels out of my library if it was on fire, “Jane Eyre” would be one of those precious five!
Dear reader, if you are a avid fan of Gothic novels, fictions, then I would insist that you should read Jane Eyre! Also watch the movie adaptation of “Jane Eyre” (2011 film).
